Why do we associate the Nutcracker with Christmas?
Why have we associated the Nutcracker(s)with Christmas for centuries? The suspicion is that it has to do with the fact that we bake a lot more around Christmas and that of course we also need nuts. The nutcracker has therefore been most commonly used in December for many years and was often found in households during that period.
When the squatter took the form of a doll, it naturally also became a fun toy for children.

Today, Nutcracker(s) have lost their original function. We use them as a Christmas decoration, but we no longer use them to crack nuts! They are still made by hand.
